Peru to host Social Innovation Summit in April 2013

Lima will host on April 23, 2013, the Social Innovation Summit, as agreed in Dubai during the Global Agenda Council on Social Innovation 2012, an event held from 12 to 14 November which was attended by Peru’s Minister of Development Social Inclusion (Midis), Carolina Trivelli.
Participants at the Innovation Summit will address and agree an integrated package of public policy tools for social innovation on a global level, a document which will be spotlighted Peru’s strategy on social issue.

The 2013 Social Innovation Summit will take place before the 2013 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Latin America, to be held from April 23-25 in Lima, according to a press release that accounts Trivelli trip, Midis’ head.

Trivelli was invited at the Global Agenda Council on Social Innovation 2012 as an international authority on the social inclusion subject. There she expose on creating social inclusion policies that go beyond the provision of government programs.

Midis’ head emphasized the need for sustainable funding mechanisms of social enterprises as national social innovation fund.

As part of the international event, Peru’s Minister held working meetings with world renowned personalities such as the president of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Elizabeth Littlefield; Hilde Schwab - President of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.

In addition, Audrey Choi, Head of Global Sustainable Finance at Morgan Stanley, and Nicholas O'Donahoe, general manager of Big Society Capital of the United Kingdom, among others.
