The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) reassured on Tuesday its support to the Peruvian government to achieve social inclusion in the most vulnerable sectors and reduce poverty in the country.

Unicef’s representative in Peru, Paul Martin praised the interest of the Peruvian government to take actions that allow the allocation of resources in the most effective manner.

“Social inclusion in very important to guarantee rights and take out the country, not only from the situation, but from the mentality of poverty,” he said.

Martin noted that is essential to provide children quality services and opportunities to exercise their rights and develop their skills.

Moreover, he said that the country must take urgent actions to better understand the magnitude and nature of poverty and exclusion affecting children in urban areas.
