Trade between Peru and the other World Cup Group C contenders (France, Denmark, and Australia) amounted to more than US$1 billion at the end of 2017, Lima Chamber of Commerce's (CCL) Foreign Trade Center (CCEX) reported Friday.
According to CCEX Business Intelligence Department, Peruvian exports to the aforementioned group totaled US$564 million.
Mining, non-traditional agriculture, and traditional
fishery were the most representative sectors, accounting for 31%, 19%, and 13%, respectively, of the total.
In the case of goods brought in from these countries, Peru's CIF (cost, insurance, freight)
imports stood at US$529 million. The sectors with the highest demand were intermediate goods (49%), as well as capital goods and building materials (31%).
Thus, the accumulated trade balance of Peru shows a positive figure of US$35 million.
France
It must be noted
France is Peru's largest trading partner in this group, with over US$500 million in business transactions, including US$240 million in Peruvian exports to that country.
Australia
In second place is
Australia, with which the Andean nation has a positive trade balance of US$383 million, US$240 million of which consists of Peruvian shipments.
Denmark
Lastly, two-way trade with
Denmark reached US$137 million in the year of analysis, with exports valued at US$84 million.
Fish oil was the most demanded product (US$45 million), accounting for 53% of total sales.
