The Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (CEOE) underlined the potential and resources of Peru to diversify its economy, in a release issued before a business meeting with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

Via Twitter, CEOE said Peru is a country open to trade and foreign investment, and underscored the excellent level of bilateral relations.

"Bilateral relations with Spain are excellent and keep on broadening. Our country is the largest foreign investor, the main donor of international cooperation and the second biggest source of remittances for Peru," reads the release.

Even though Peru is basically a commodity exporter —due to its abundance of natural resources— its Government is planning to diversify its productive base so as to reduce the economic dependence on these exports.

According to CEOE, Spanish firms are interested in Government tenders and private initiatives for concession of public assets.

Likewise, it believes the organization of the 2019 Pan-American Games in Peru can secure a number of opportunities in the construction and engineering sectors.

Moreover, the steel industry, construction and public works equipment and machinery, agro-food industry machinery, packaging, electronics and computing, garment making industry machinery, medicines, chemical products, and mining services open up further opportunities.
