A considerable 200% increase in Google searches —regarding Pope Francis' visit to Peru— has been registered in recent months.

The Pope's trip to the Inca country is deemed a historic event since Peru will welcome a Supreme Pontiff after 30 years. Thus, there is great expectation and need for more information on the matter.

In this sense, Google Trends showed that the rumor about Pope Francis' possible visit to South America had drawn the attention of users back in early June 2017.

Later, it proved searches increased once Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski —on June 19— announced that the Catholic Church's leader would arrive in the Inca country.

The first terms searched by users in this regard were "Bergoglio," "Pope Francis' biography," "where was Pope Francis born," " Pope Francis' story," and "Pope Francis' visit to Peru."

The Supreme Pontiff will visit the Inca country during four days. His trip will also include stops in cities: Puerto Maldonado and Trujillo.
