Peru's Raul Alcantara Castillo —gold medalist at the 2015 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)— was selected to take part in a summer program for talented students.

From a total of 400 outstanding students, the Peruvian scholar was chosen through a worldwide search.

The European Summer Program on Rationality (ESPR) will run from August 18-31, 2017, at King's College in London.
It is an immersive summer workshop for 16-19-year-old mathematically-talented minds with a desire to understand the world.

The event will bring together 20 artistically, scientifically and digitally gifted participants.

Classes will cover topics ranging from mathematical logic, understanding what a DNA sequence is, as well as dives into philosophy and psychology.

The learning will be extended with guest speakers from a variety of cutting-edge fields from top universities and firms around the globe.

ESPR's ultimate goal is to show how rigorous and quantitative skills can be applied outside the classroom, in all pursuits.

The program is intended to help improve our society through change agents.

"School helped me reach one of my goals: winning gold in Thailand. Now, I plan to enter university in order to become an excellent professional," Alcantara pointed out.

When asked about his participation at ESPR, the 17-year old admitted he is grateful for the invitation and feels motivated about the idea of being in contact with other brilliant minds.
