Consulate General of Peru in Spain informed a Peruvian woman was wounded after a van ploughed through crowds of civilians Thursday in Las Ramblas, downtown Barcelona.

The Peruvian —whose identity is suppressed— has been discharged and sent home. She has even contacted her family in Lima after being assisted at a health care center in Barcelona.

"She is out of danger. Plus, she is already at home and contacted her family in Peru to say she is fine and ask them to calm down," Consul Franca Deza indicated.

According to the diplomat, she is the only Peruvian victim of the van attack that has left 13 dead and more than 100 injured so far.

"In the case of Peru, there is only one victim. Hopefully, she has been discharged," the consul told RPP radio and TV station.

At least 13 people were killed and more than 100 wounded when a van rammed through crowds of people in Las Ramblas area in the heart of Barcelona.

One of the suspects includes Driss Oukabir, a Spanish legal resident originally from the Maghreb region, who is alleged to have rented the vehicle used to ram down civilians.

It must be noted the Islamic State Group has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to AFP.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski expressed strong condemnation of the deadly attack and offered his deepest sympathy to victims' families and the Spanish Government last Thursday.
