President-elect Pedro Castillo on Friday affirmed that his incoming government's first fight will be intended for the sake of citizens' health in times of COVID-19 and the economic reactivation.

Within this framework, Castillo said that his administration will declare a war against the pandemic.

"Health and Peruvian lives come first. Our fight will begin there to find a way to vaccinate all Peruvians and reactivate people's economy," he expressed.

According to the school teacher, Peruvians at current times do not think so much about politics, but rather about how to provide for their families or how to heal a relative who is in the hospital.

"No one will be left behind by our government," he pointed out.

Likewise, Castillo thanked voters for the trust placed in him and Peru Libre party. He ratified his call for "the broadest unity" of all parties, guilds, union organizations, native/indigenous communities, and the people organized to work for the country.

"I call for a more committed, more humane Peru in the face of the Bicentennial," he said after emphasizing that he will not let Peruvians down.

Moreover, the President-elect underlined his commitment to governance and the Constitution, which he believes should be left for assessment by the people.

Castillo pointed out that —as an authority— it corresponds to think of citizens most in need, of those who live in areas where the Peruvian State lacks a presence.

"We are going to create the true model thinking about cultural diversity, and we must make the changes ourselves, at home, at school, on the farm. We cannot distract ourselves but rather assume responsibility," he added.

In this sense, Castillo affirmed that he will work so that everyone has the same opportunities, affirming that new generations will have job opportunities and hope.
