Peru's northern coast and its beaches are in good condition to welcome vacationers this long holiday weekend, the South American country's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) affirmed Wednesday.
Peruvians will enjoy a three-day-long weekend because of the holiday on Dec. 8 (Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception).
"The country's northern coast is in excellent condition to welcome vacationers from different parts of the country [and even
foreign tourists] […]," PromPeru's Tourism Department Director Marisol Acosta expressed.
In this sense, she pointed out the Government is working on
initiatives to foster
tourism not only in the northern
area, but also throughout
national territory.
Within this framework, Acosta noted Peruvian vacationers' travel frequency increased from 2.7 times a year in 2015 to 3.5 times a year in 2016.
Likewise, she stressed the average spending of domestic travelers reached S/489 (about US$151) in 2016.
New travelers
On the other hand, the PromPeru representative announced new types of visitors have been identified, who will be included in the next tourism plan.
