Maido, a Lima-based restaurant fusing Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, was awarded the first position on the recently-released Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list.

Held in Bogota last Tuesday, the ceremony saw the presence of many renowned chefs, restaurateurs, and gourmets from across the region.

Owned by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura, Maido has managed to properly position itself on the Peruvian gastronomic scene offering its Nikkei cuisine.

After four years of holding the top positions among Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants, Maido managed to reach the first spot in 2017.

It must be noted Central —another Peruvian restaurant— holds the second place on the said list.

Likewise, Lima-based Astrid y Gastón won "The Art of Hospitality Award," which recognizes excellence and best-in-class service.
