12:45 | Trujillo (La Libertad region), Aug. 20.

For the fifth time, Peruvian boxer Linda Lecca defended her World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight title by defeating Mexican Karina "La Bella" Fernandez in Peru's northern city of Trujillo last Saturday night.

The judges favored Lecca's performance (96-94), (97-93) and (97-93), allowing the northern girl to claim victory at Gran Chimu Coliseum.

Despite not having fought for over a year, the "Inca Princess" took control of the fight from the sixth round.

"I knew it would be a difficult fight, but —thank God— we managed to retain the crown once again," Lecca told RPP radio.

"I am very happy to be here in my hometown, Trujillo. I feel that I've fulfilled my dream, but I am going for more," she added.

As is known, the 29-year-old boxer became the world female super flyweight champion when she beat Brazilian Simone Da Silva in June 2014.

Since then, Lecca has retained the WBA belt against Guadalupe Martinez and Maribel Ramirez, both from Mexico.

She is the second Peruvian female to win a boxing title after Kina Malpartida.

Thanks to this result, Lecca has reached thirteen victories as professional and five under the WBA super flyweight title.
