Peru's services exports will increase 8% to over US$6.76 billion this year, led by shipments of software, graphic design, among other services, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Eduardo Ferreyros projected.

Remarks were made at the opening of Peru Service Summit —the Inca nation's business platform for the export of services.

"According to Central Reserve Bank (BCR), US$6.26 billion in services were exported in 2016. Plus, exports are projected to grow 8% to more than US$6.76 billion this year" Ferreyros noted.

The Cabinet member underlined the export of services involves "a new generation of entrepreneurs" that uses information technologies and business process outsourcing to design and promote high-quality services at competitive prices.

"In this sense, the stated goal of US$13 billion in services exports is certainly surmountable by 2021," estimated the minister.
