Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski opened new roads and sidewalks in Lima's Ancon district on Tuesday morning, saying his administration will continue to work without distraction.
Joined by Vice-Presidents Martin Vizcarra and Mercedes Araoz, the statesman greeted Ancon neighbors and said his government team is working to ensure delivery of works like roads, parks, police stations, as well as telephone and
drinking water [networks].
"We are all working. We cannot let anything distract us and should get to work instead. We have to deliver works, parks, police stations, avenues, telephone, and drinking water —needed all over Peru, particularly here, in Ancon […]," he was quoted as saying.
The activity was also attended by Housing, Construction and Sanitation Minister Carlos Bruce, who said roadworks like these may be simple, but change the face of the neighborhood and improve the population's quality of life.
Works include construction and upgrade initiatives in Los Alamos and Bahia Blanca human settlements. They will be implemented under the
Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Program (Mi Barrio) and entails an investment of more than S/12 million (US$3.67 million).
"Local families had to put up with dust and smoke from cars that passed by, which affected children and accumulated in houses. Now they have recovered the quality of life they used to have," the housing minister said.
