President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski is meeting with Congress' Lava Jato Commission members, who arrived at Lima's Government Palace to collect statements from the leader.
The Presidency of the Republic announced the start of the meeting via Twitter.
On February 28, the President himself confirmed he was going to meet with members of said congressional commission.
To the top official, this decision honored his word and the commitment he made to all Peruvians.
At that time, Mr. Kuczynski said that he would receive the Lava Jato Commission, once former
Odebrecht representative in Peru
Jorge Barata had testified before Peruvian prosecutors, an event that took place on February 28.
Previously, the commission had agreed to send an official letter to the Head of State asking him to set the date and time of the meeting within a period of 10 days.
According to Peruanos por el Kambio (PPK) ruling party's spokesperson, Gilbert Violeta, the statesman has always been willing to cooperate, even though he is not obliged to given his presidential immunity.
