Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz called on political parties to reflect on the impeachment request against President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and vote in favor of the country's governability and citizenship.

"We need the Parliament to responsibly join us in this process, without loosening political control," she told State-run TV Peru channel.

According to Araoz, the Executive Branch's intention is to build bridges and work with Parliament —including Keiko Fujimori's opposition party— to focus deeply on issues for which they were elected.

After noting Peruvians dislike power struggle, she said the Head of State stands firm in his goal of working on relevant topics such as water and schools.

Additionally, the government official pointed out Mr. Kuczynski has given pertinent explanations regarding the alleged association between his companies and Brazilian firm Odebrecht.

Araoz explained the Peruvian Government will go through a stage of democratic dialogue with all parties in order to build a truly viable country if the impeachment fails.

"We must understand we have chances to improve economically. We can grow 4% and emerge as a leading country at the Summit of the Americas, with possibilities to provide more public services," she added.
