Peru, Paraguay strengthen bilateral trade ties

Paraguayan Ambassador to Peru Julio Duarte on Tuesday affirmed business relations between his country and the Inca nation show a very favorable bilateral trade balance.

According to Duarte, Peru-Paraguay trade is dominated by commodity exports. Yet value-added goods may continue registering increases.

In this regard, the diplomat highlighted Paraguayan pharmaceutical and meat products registered substantial growth over the past four years.

"We have always advocated for the diversification and expansion of our products range. However, the decision to take a closer interest in Paraguay as a platform to expand its markets is up to the business sector," he noted.

As for the efforts undertaken to consolidate markets between both nations, the ambassador recalled the Paraguayan-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce was established 5 years ago.

This organization gives visibility to Paraguay's interest in strengthening trade ties with the Andean country.

"We have welcomed more than 22 business delegations coming from Paraguay to Peru and vice versa. Plus, we have participated in three trade fairs in Paraguay," the envoy pointed out.
