Peru expects US$90m in deals at global seafood show in Brussels

15:03 | Lima, Apr. 23.

Peru expects to close US$90 million in deals at Seafood Expo Global —the world's largest seafood trade event to be held in Brussels, Belgium— the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) said Monday.

A total of 22 Peruvian enterprises will take part in the trade show from April 24 to 26 in the aforementioned European city.

"The event is the most important trade promotion tool of the year for many companies in the sector. It is an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing business relationships and seek new clients," PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres stated.

He said the constant participation of Peru at the show has cemented the country's position as one of the most important suppliers of fishing products around the globe.

The fair features more than 1,850 exhibiting companies from 79 countries, as well as 28,500 buyers, suppliers, media and other seafood professionals looking for a varied lineup of innovative products.

Among products that the Peruvian delegation seeks to trade are giant squid (in all its forms), prawns, scallops, hake, anchovy, canned fish, squid, Peruvian silverside (known as pejerrey), and tuna.

Said products will be traded under the Superfoods Peru brand for their contribution to good health and stronger role in the daily diet.

The Peruvian participation was made possible by PromPeru and supported by the Peru Trade Office (OCEX) based in Brussels, Belgium.
