Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry handed over 500 archaeological pieces —repatriated from Argentina, Mexico, the United States, and the United Kingdom— to the Culture Ministry on Friday.

It must be noted said pieces belong to the Inca country's cultural heritage and were recovered from private collections and the black market.

This batch is composed of archaeological material consisting of ceramic, textile, stone, and wood pieces.

They belong to cultures from Peru's southern and northern coast like Lambayeque, Sipan, Sican, Chimu, Chancay, Nazca, and Inca, among others.

The event took place at Lima's Torre Tagle Palace and featured Ministers Cayetana Aljovin (Foreign Affairs) and Alejandro Neyra (Culture).

Within this framework, Neyra highlighted efforts undertaken by the Foreign Affairs Ministry throughout the whole process —that must be carried out— to recover the Andean nation's cultural heritage found abroad.

Moreover, the government-official announced these archeological pieces —as well as others that have been repatriated— will be part of collections showcased at the Culture Ministry's facilities and Pachacamac National Museum.
