Peru Congress authorizes presidential trip to the US, Vatican

Peruvian Congress on Thursday granted President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski permission to travel to the United States and the Vatican, where he will participate in a series of events representing the Inca country.

Lawmakers passed the resolution with 92 votes in favor. Thus, the Head of State will be overseas from September 15 to 23, 2017. 

United States

While in the U.S., Peru's top official will participate in the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA) taking place in New York City.

The Vatican

Later, he will travel to Vatican City with the purpose of personally delivering an invitation to Pope Francis, who will visit Peru in January 2018.

Days ago, President Kuczynski said his trips schedule "cannot be modified," as it includes activities at the UN and meetings with high-ranking officials.
