Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has called upon Venezuelan authorities to ensure transparent and fair regional elections in accordance with the law.
Via Twitter, he said going to the polls doesn't make them [voters] supporters of the
National Constituent Assembly —backed by President Nicolas Maduro's ruling Socialist Party.
Venezuela's regional elections will take place on Sunday with more than 18 million voters going to the polls.
Out of this number, 17,898,004 are Venezuelan nationals and 196,061 foreigners, according to National Electoral Council (CNE).
The elections should have been held in 2016, but they have been rescheduled for October this year.
