FIFA to grant over US$9.5 million to Peru after World Cup participation

15:29 | Lima, Apr. 4.

Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) will receive at least US$9.5 million following the national team's participation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, the FPF informed Wednesday.

The money will be transferred once the mega sports event has come to an end.

According to information provided by FIFA, the prize —to be granted to each team eliminated in the group stage— will amount to US$8 million.

Sources also said US$1.5 million must be added to such amount. This shall be issued for the squad's preparation expenses related to the coming tournament.

That means each team —including Peru— will get at least US$9.5 million for its participation in the World Cup.

Likewise, FPF might be awarded US$14.76 million in case the red-white team manages to pass the group stage.

Additionally, it may receive another US$4.92 million, if Peru makes it to the quarterfinals, thus raising US$19.68 million.

The tournament's winner will get US$38 million, whereas US$28 million will be granted to the runner-up.
