The Government of Peru is working to provide modern solutions and product-oriented marketing systems for farmers, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed on Saturday.

Peru's top official expressed his firm support for promotion of agriculture, during the launch of a sprinkler irrigation and water harvesting project in Casaorcco and Yanama (Ayacucho region).

"Further technology, aid, credit and marketing system; that's our request on Farmer's Day," he stated.

Irrigation

The technical irrigation system facilitates water harvesting; it was implemented by Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry in Cachi River's area of influence in a bid to raise incomes and well-being of over 100 families.

It must be noted the irrigation coverage under this project extends to over 190 hectares, resulting in plenty of grass for cattle and higher crops of potato, corn, quinoa, among others.

Likewise, the sprinkler irrigation system has resulted in an irrigation efficiency of 70%, compared to the 37% efficiency of a gravity-fed irrigation system, thus reducing water consumption.

Mr. Kuczynski was accompanied by Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Jose Hernandez and Peruanos por el Kambio (PPK) lawmaker Gilbert Violeta.
