The 11th edition of Expotextil Peru 2017 —the most important international fair in Peru's textile and garment production chain— was inaugurated on Wednesday in Ciudad Ferial Costa Verde seashore area, part of Lima's San Miguel district.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Expotextil Peru Director Luisa Mesones, along with Peru's National Society of Industries Head Andreas von Wedemeyer and Textile Committee representatives.

The event saw the presence of government officials, as well as mayors of Lima Metropolitan Area and San Miguel district.

It must be noted this is the first time Expotextil Peru takes place in Ciudad Ferial Costa Verde, an area of 14,000 square meters.

In this sense, the fair provides expanded exhibition space, thus seeking to spread new knowledge, innovation, dialogue and textile culture.

Expotextil Peru features 250 exhibitors from 17 countries and is expected to welcome 26,000 people.

The event will run thru October 21.

As is known, U.S. imports of Peruvian garments totaled approximately US$300 million between January and June 2017.
