Dakar 2018: Attendees enjoy traditional dishes in Puno

Peru Mucho Gusto gastronomic fair —held in South-Andean Puno region— brings together thousands of local citizens and tourists, who enjoy typical dishes prepared by the best restaurants from the country's southern regions.
 
This two-day event was organized on the occasion of the Dakar Rally 2018.

The culinary fair ends today and thus closes with a flourish the passage of the Dakar Rally 2018 through Peruvian territory.


Puno's Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) projected the fair would receive over 20,000 people on its last day, including domestic and foreign tourists who would taste the most representative dishes from the High-Plateau region.

It must be noted Peru Mucho Gusto —on its first day— welcomed a large number of people who enjoyed meals —prepared with Andean products— such as the emblematic Kankacho Ayavireño (typical lamb-based-dish from Ayaviri town), Chicharron de Alpaca (alpaca cracklings), and trout in different presentations.


Besides the variety of typical dishes, the fair also features traditional dances, as well as the exhibition and sale of handicrafts made from alpaca fiber.

Peru Mucho Gusto takes place at Puno's Cuartel Manco Capac (military barrack).

As is known Dakar Rally 2018 will continue its journey thru Bolivia and Argentina.
