Natalia Molano, the Spanish-language Spokesperson for the U. S. Department of State, highlighted that the trade relationship between the United States and Peru remains stable and continues to grow.

During an interview with Andina News Agency, she noted that many U.S. companies do business in Peru, with investments exceeding US$6 billion.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the United States strongly supports APEC’s Roadmap to a formal economy initiative.

In this regard, she noted that the United States works in partnership with Peru to support these initiatives, providing training for women entrepreneurs.

Additionally, Molano emphasized that, thanks to this effort, more than one million jobs related to value-added imports have been created in Peru.

Regarding the participation of President Joe Biden in APEC Peru 2024, the U.S. State Department spokesperson mentioned that he might hold bilateral meetings with Peru and the People's Republic of China.

The spokeswoman indicated that, at major events like these, the spaces between activities are used for leader-to-leader conversations to advance on different topics.

Lastly, Molano highlighted that APEC is an opportunity to strengthen trade relations and create actions that have a positive impact on citizens' lives by generating more jobs and better opportunities.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
