Peru: Congress appoints Cesar Aguilar Surichaqui as Comptroller General

Congress' Permanent Commission on Wednesday appointed Cesar Enrique Aguilar Surichaqui as new Comptroller General of the Republic, after approving the report from the special commission in charge of evaluating his nomination proposed by the Executive Branch.

Aguilar Surichaqui has been a Member of the Superior Court of Administrative Responsibilities (TSRA) at the Comptroller General's Office, since October 2, 2022.

He is a lawyer graduated from the Lima-based University of San Martin de Porres (USMP) and holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

Additionally, Aguilar Surichaqui has completed Master's studies in Civil and Commercial Law and in Constitutional Law at USMP.

He holds a Diploma of Specialization in Administrative Law, State Procurement, and Arbitration from ESAN University and the Government Procurement Supervisory Agency (OSCE).

In the academic field, Aguilar Surichaqui is a professor for undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) and Universidad del Pacifico (UP).

His professional experience spans roles in both public and private sectors.

Aguilar Surichaqui has worked as General Manager at service companies and as a lawyer at the Public State Attorney's Office of the Ministry of Labor-Employment Promotion.

Furthermore, he was Secretary of the Transitory Civil Chamber at the Supreme Court of the Republic and Magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of Northern Lima.

He has been appointed three times as Chairman of the TSRA and currently chairs Panel 1 of this administrative oversight body.
