The White House celebrated the significant contributions of Peruvians residing in the United States at an event attended by senior government officials from the North American country, where our culture and the ties between both nations were honored.

Peruvian Ambassador to the United States, Alfredo Ferrero, participated in the activity as did prominent members of the Peruvian and Peruvian-American community residing in the host country.

The ceremony opened with the singing of the U.S. and Peruvian anthems (the latter in Spanish and Quechua languages) by outstanding Peru-born soprano Sylvia Falcon.

Renowned Peruvian artists from Virginia, Maryland, and New Jersey also attended the event.

Besides, the Peruvian Embassy in the United States held an exhibition of 16 traditional Peruvian dance costumes, including "Festejo," "Pallas de Corongo," "Marinera," "Huaylarsh," "Wititi," and "Carnaval de Tinta," which were showcased in the halls of the White House Eisenhower Building.

Guests were also able to savor a sample of renowned Peruvian cuisine, recognized worldwide for its variety and exquisiteness, as well as enjoy traditional Pisco Sour, Peru's flagship drink.

"The celebration at the White House is a recognition of the Peruvian and Peruvian-American community, which has left a significant mark on U.S. society. This event highlights the commitment of the U.S. Government and the Peruvian Embassy to strengthen bilateral ties and foster mutual understanding between both countries through culture," Ambassador Ferrero stated.

Similarly, the envoy indicated that the 15 Peruvian consulates in the U.S. and the Peruvian Embassy in Washington, DC are "tools and resources designed to contribute to the success and well-being of Peruvians in this country, as well as to promote our country as a tourism and investment destination."

The Peruvian community residing in this country, over a million people, makes significant contributions across various fields, including academia, medicine, science, technology, business, and even politics.

Many other Peruvians in the U.S. work in gastronomy, construction, as shepherds and agricultural workers.
