The National Justice Board (JNJ) has provisionally suspended Attorney General Delia Espinoza for a six-month period, through an official notice sent to the Supreme Prosecutors Board, according to the magistrate's lawyer, Luciano Lopez.

In this regard, Lopez clarified that this decision "was foreseeable." Therefore, they will take the matter to the Constitutional Court.

"If we do not have guarantees of due process for a fair game, how can we validate this decision? We have questioned the impartiality of these people (National Justice Board members) and believe that this is not a procedure with proper safeguards," Lopez stated.

He indicated that Espinoza will comply with this measure and continue with the regular proceedings; however, they will proceed with the constitutional protection (amparo) process filed against certain National Justice Board (JNJ) members.

The lawyer also mentioned that the succession to the position of Attorney General falls to the most senior member. For this purpose, the Supreme Prosecutors Board will meet on September 22.

Official notice

The notice addressed to the Supreme Prosecutors specifies that the precautionary measure of provisional suspension is being applied to Delia Espinoza Valenzuela for a six-month period.

The notice refers to Resolution No. 143-2025-Pleno-JNJ, which is signed by the JNJ Chairman Gino Rios.
