The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, reaffirmed Peru's commitment to the Paris Agreement during her address at the Climate Summit 2025, held within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.

In this regard, the Head of State indicated that the government is fostering a comprehensive climate action strategy encompassing effective adaptation, accelerated mitigation, and sustainable development.

"At this critical moment for the world, Peru reaffirms its commitment to the Paris Agreement through the update of its nationally determined contribution, which we have called NDC 3.0 and will be presented at COP 30 in Belem, Brazil," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

The top official explained that NDC 3.0 will reflect a renewed vision for a resilient future, being developed through a participatory process involving indigenous peoples, local and regional governments, the private sector, and civil society.

The President indicated that  in terms of mitigation, Peru commits to not exceeding 179 million tons of carbon dioxide by 2035.

Regarding adaptation, territorial measures will be prioritized in seven areas: water, forests, agriculture, health, fisheries, tourism, and transportation.

"We have incorporated migration and green jobs, totaling 84 measures, as well as a component on loss and damage," she highlighted.

The President stated that our country is prepared to participate in cooperative approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

"Peru demonstrates that climate action is possible. Only through political will, respect for the multilateral framework, and international cooperation can we accelerate solutions to climate change, protecting our one and only home, the Earth, our only Pachamama," she concluded.
