The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Friday highlighted that the new Jorge Chavez International Airport, inaugurated today, turns Peru into a world-class logistics hub and confirms that the South American country continues to move forward steadily
"Peru, a land of millenary history and indomitable spirit, today becomes a world-class logistics hub. The US$2.4 billion investment in this airport not only represents a leap in infrastructure and technology but also confirms Peru as an attractive and reliable destination for foreign investment," she said.
During the inauguration ceremony of the new air terminal, Mrs. Boluarte stated that, thanks to the government's firm decision and the collaborative effort of thousands of Peruvians, a new era of progress, integration, and modernity begins.
"We are building a Peru that not only looks to the future but leads it —a country that connects continents, drives development, and is recognized and admired in Latin America and the world," she pointed out.
The top official specified that this year the new Jorge Chavez International Airport will handle 40 million passengers —nearly double its current capacity— an achievement that consolidates the country's leadership in the region and confirms that Peru continues to advance steadily.
"Today, more than ever, Peru takes off united, carrying in its flight the dreams of millions, the pride of our history, and the promise of a future that we will know how to conquer," she stated.
In that context, the Head of State recalled that in 2024, Peru broke records in economic growth, exports, international reserves, monetary stability, and inflation control, becoming one of the fastest-growing countries in the region.
"This 2025, Peru would be exporting more than US$77 billion, the highest figure ever reached in our history. Moreover, in the first quarter of this year, we achieved a growth of around 4%, and we will continue on this path," she said.
Likewise, the top official invited citizens to discover Peru, explore its landscapes, be amazed by its history, and enjoy its unparalleled cuisine.
"Do not miss the north, with its beaches and exquisite cuisine. And very soon, you will be able to explore the Route of Pope Leo XIV, where we will showcase the places the Holy Father visited and the flavors that won his heart and his palate," she said.
Furthermore, Mrs. Boluarte stated that the new international airport, which will begin operations this Sunday, June 1, combines Peruvian hospitality with world-class infrastructure.
"Welcome to Peru. Welcome, tourists. Welcome, investments," she expressed.
On this occasion, President Boluarte was accompanied by Cabinet Chief Eduardo Arana, and Transportation and Communications Minister Cesar Sandoval
The ceremony was also attended by the Congress Chairman Eduardo Salhuana, and other State ministers.
