The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte emphasized that the fight against public insecurity is a collective effort and stated that her government will not rest until Peruvians regain the peace and security they deserve.

During a new session of the War Room against crime on Tuesday evening, the top official said that her administration is tracking down criminal gangs and assured that it will respond to their criminal acts "with firmness, with the law, and with justice."

The Head of State emphasized that now more than ever, all branches of the Peruvian State must work together, along with the private sector, regional and local governments, as well as citizens, strengthening the actions of the National Police and the Armed Forces.

"This battle belongs to everyone, and we will not rest until we restore to our people the peace and security they deserve. There is no turning back in this fight. Crime has no place in our society," she expressed.

Likewise, the top official called on the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) and the Judiciary to join this war against public insecurity “in order to forge a great alliance and jointly defeat both national and international crime together."

Report on past 24 hours

Previously, President Boluarte underscored the main actions carried out by the National Police, supported by the Armed Forces, as part of the state of emergency currently in force in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region.

She said that since the emergency was declared, significant blows have already been dealt to various criminal organizations, including the arrest of three members of "Los Injertos del Cono Norte" (The Grafts of the Northern Cone) suspected of extorting the Armonia 10 orchestra.

In this regard, the Head of State highlighted that on Tuesday the police managed to capture the alleged shooter of the cumbia group's lead singer, Paul Flores García, who died as a result of the attack on March 16.

"We will continue working with our intelligence network to capture and put behind bars these criminals who seek to spread fear among our population," Mrs. Boluarte said.

Moreover, the top official specified that 9,500 agents have been deployed in Lima and Callao, and 522 operations have been carried out, resulting in the arrest of 329 individuals, including 307 Peruvians and 22 foreigners. Additionally, 49 individuals with outstanding warrants were taken into custody.

"And since this work is carried out in unity, our Armed Forces, in support of our National Police, also conducted 227 patrols in the last 24 hours, performed by 3,772 personnel," she underscored.
