09:00 | Lima, May. 31.

For those who want to avoid queues at the Migrations Office, the new Jorge Chavez International Airport —the gateway to the Peruvian capital, Lima— offers users a new option starting this Sunday, June 1.

Users just need to activate the pre-registration within 48 hours prior to their flight, through the Migracheck web platform.

This service will be available for both departures and arrivals. Each user must create an account only once, which will allow them to use the e-gates without having to wait in long queues, the National Superintendence of Migrations announced.

Migracheck is the new technological tool that allows travelers to reduce their processing time at Migrations, compared to the conventional migration control process at the airport's entry and exit points.

Those who may use this tool are national passengers and foreign residents with a Foreigner ID Card (Carne de Extranjeria) and valid migratory status, who are of legal age and have an electronic passport valid for at least six months prior to its expiration.

How to create an account for pre-registration

It is important to emphasize that the user account is created only once. With this, travelers will be able to pre-register each time they enter or leave the country. To do this, they visit the Migracheck website, click "Log in" and then "Register Now."

Then, enter the e-mail address, click "Send Verification Code," type the six-digit code received via e-mail, and click "Verify Code."

To complete the process, create and confirm a password for the account, set a username and click "Create."

Remember that usernames and passwords are personal, so they should not share them with third parties who might put their data at risk.

Information will be cross-checked with other systems

It should be noted that, as part of security measures, the information declared by travelers through Migracheck will be cross-checked with national and international alert systems such as Interpol, warrants, the Pacific Alliance, among others, before granting permission to enter or leave the country.
