FA Ministry: 106 compatriots arrived in Peru from U.S. on repatriation flight

10:00 | Lima, Feb. 7.

A total of 106 fellow citizens arrived in Peru from the United States on a flight that landed in Lima on Thursday at 3:12 p.m. (local time). The group, which included 25 women and no minors, departed from the State of Louisiana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The arrival of these compatriots is the result of coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Government to facilitate the return of citizens apprehended for immigration violations in the North American country, and within the framework of the policy of permanent support and assistance to our fellow citizens abroad.

This new group adds to those who arrived at the beginning of this month. To date, 140 compatriots have returned since the new administration took office in the U.S.

Given the circumstances of a process of this nature, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on various State-run institutions to provide immediate medical, psychological, and social assistance to our fellow citizens.

These include the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion, the Ministry of Health, the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), and the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS). Special attention was provided to those compatriots in highly vulnerable situations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains alert to future flights in order to provide all necessary assistance for the return of our fellow citizens.
