Peru: President laments death of Mario Vargas Llosa

The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Sunday evening expressed her sorrow over the passing of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa and extended her heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

A message on Presidential Office's social media accounts emphasized that Vargas Llosa's intellectual genius and his vast body of work will remain an enduring legacy for future generations.

"President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra and the Government of Peru deeply lament the passing of Mario Vargas Llosa, the renowned universal writer and distinguished Nobel Laureate in Literature. His intellectual genius and vast body of work will remain an enduring legacy for future generations," the message stated.

"We express our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the literary world. Rest in peace, illustrious Peruvian of all time," it added.



The renowned man of letters left this world peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones, his son Alvaro Vargas Llosa stated through social media.
