On Peruvian-Japanese Friendship Day, celebrated every April 3, a Working Group was established between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

This group will implement the 61 commitments set forth in the 2024-2033 Roadmap to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Peru and Japan.

The document, signed by both countries during the official visit of Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to Peru in 2024, is divided into five pillars: political-diplomatic, economic, international cooperation, social and people-to-people, in addition to defense and security.

From Tokyo, it was led by Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean at Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yasushi Noguchi, and by
Peru's Ambassador to Japan, Roberto Seminario.

In this first meeting of the working group, priority topics on the bilateral agenda were discussed, which will be implemented in 2025 and will strengthen cooperation in areas of common interest, within the framework of the Peru-Japan Strategic Partnership established in 2016.
