on Monday stated that Peru’s economy is projected to grow 4% in the last quarter of this year. He added that gross domestic product (GDP) would advance 3.2% by the end of 2024.
"This is a significant figure because we closed with a 0.6% drop last year," Arista said in remarks to TVPeru.
The Cabinet member noted that on an aggregate level some sectors are growing faster than others.
Among the activities that have advanced the most this year are fishing, agriculture, mining, and construction, whose progress will stand out in the last quarter of 2024.
"We expect the positive performance of the national economy as a whole to continue in 2025," he said.
Crucial year
The minister emphasized that 2024 has been crucial for Peru's economy because business expectations have changed for the better.
"In the past, the investment rate was negative; and, in 2024 it is expected to grow by 2%," Arista forecast.
"For next year, we project it will increase by more than 5%, that is, some US$50 billion in private investment," he added.
