In a joint operation, the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Peruvian National Police (PNP), and the National Superintendence of Migration successfully captured three Peruvian citizens who had been fugitives in the United States and were wanted by Peruvian justice for serious crimes, the U.S. Embassy in Lima reported.

One of the detainees had been wanted since 2001 by the Junin Court for the crime of instigation and/or assistance to suicide.

The second had been declared a fugitive since 2015 by the Huaura Court in Lima for aggravated robbery.

The third, wanted by the Comas Court in Lima, had been a fugitive since 2021 for drug trafficking.

This operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Peruvian and U.S. authorities in the fight against transnational crime.

Through interinstitutional and international cooperation, joint efforts are strengthened to ensure that those who attempt to evade justice face the consequences of their actions.

"We reaffirm our firm commitment to continue working together to effectively combat security threats, contributing to making the region safer for all," the U.S. diplomat mission in Lima stated.
