urged the Judiciary and the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) to be more rigorous in proceedings against criminals to prevent them from being released and their crimes from going unpunished.
After a new session of the War Room against crime, Mrs. Boluarte emphasized that institutions must work in a coordinated manner to win the fight against criminality.
"Unfortunately, from January 1 to March 16, 1,014 detainees were released from police custody by the Public Ministry, 228 arrested individuals were freed at the prosecutorial stage, and the Judiciary released 63 people who had been detained by our police," she said.
In this regard, the President urged the Judiciary and the Public Ministry "to be more rigorous in proceedings against these criminals."
"The police and the Armed Forces work tirelessly, risking their lives. We must unite now more than ever because, together, the branches of the State and the institutions that administer justice will push back crime," she said.
During the latest War Room session, attended by new Interior Minister Julio Diaz Zulueta, the top official stated that under the leadership of the Interior Ministry's new head, the sector will be aligned to continue the fight against crime and strengthen the necessary actions to ensure security.
Likewise, the Head of State highlighted the decisive work of law enforcement in dismantling criminal organizations.
Similarly, she emphasized that 8,500 police agents had been deployed in Lima and Callao.
The top official added that 475 operations had been carried out, resulting in the arrest of 271 people —245 Peruvians and 26 foreigners— as well as the apprehension of 28 individuals with outstanding warrants.
"I have ordered systematic and permanent mega-operations in prisons nationwide from this War Room," she said, referring to the actions being carried out.
Mrs. Boluarte also stated that the comprehensive strategy being implemented is based on intelligence and joint action, requiring constant monitoring, capacity building, and coordinated work with other institutions, as security is not solely dependent on police and military forces.
