The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte administered the oath of office to Jorge Luis Jose Montero Cornejo, who is now the new Minister of Energy and Mines of Peru.

This event took place at the Government Palace in Lima on Saturday night.

Montero Cornejo replaces Romulo Mucho Mamani in the post, who was censured by Congress last Tuesday.

The new minister has vast experience in both the public and private sectors, particularly in areas related to mining and the forestry industry.

Montero Cornejo served as Deputy Minister of Mines from 2020 to 2021, as well as advisor to the same entity in 2020.

During this period, he was responsible for the design and development of the National Multisectoral Policy for Small-Scale Mining and Artisanal Mining.

He has experience as a professor at Universidad del Pacifico, as an editorial producer, and as host of debate programs that cover various current affairs topics.

The new Cabinet member swore to carry out his duties without committing any acts of corruption.
