The State-run
have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster the development of social, logistics, and sustainable transport infrastructure, directly benefiting citizens through public-private collaboration.
This agreement stipulates that ProInversion and the British Embassy will promote strategies and mechanisms to foster the development of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for the operation and maintenance of infrastructure, driven by government-to-government agreements with the UK.
Likewise, the use of standardized and collaborative contracts within the framework of PPPs will be encouraged to optimize project execution and ensure the efficient delivery of public services to the citizenry.
The Memorandum also includes knowledge transfer and capacity building for Peruvian public officials in best practices for infrastructure development, supported by the UK Government's experience.
This will include activities such as workshops on methodologies developed by the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and joint working missions between Peruvian and British officials.
Del Carpio emphasized that this agreement marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation between ProInversion and the British Embassy, aiming to ensure the sustainability of investment projects through the PPP model and contribute to closing infrastructure gaps in the South American country.
"This is a step toward a fruitful long-term collaboration to share experiences in the development of infrastructure and public services," he added.
In turn, Ambassador Cook stated that within the framework of this memorandum, both parties will work together to develop and deliver infrastructure projects in a timely and sustainable manner.
"Our goal is to share our best practices and experiences in quality infrastructure development, thereby contributing to closing gaps in Peru," he emphasized.
To implement this agreement, the diplomat announced the creation of the United Kingdom-Peru Joint Technical Committee for Private Investment Promotion, which will begin its activities next week.
ProInversion and the British Embassy in Lima commit to providing mutual assistance to ensure the effective fulfillment of the commitments outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding, as well as to follow up on the activities arising from it, aiming to ensure the success of projects for the benefit of the Peruvian people.
