The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday stated that her government will not back down in the fight against crime; on the contrary, it will strengthen this effort with the participation of all levels of government, society, and institutions within the justice system.

"We will not back down even a single centimeter against crime and delinquency. On the contrary, we will strengthen this fight through coordinated work between the national government, regional governments, local governments, the police, the Armed Forces, the private sector, civil society, but above all, the institutions of the justice system," she expressed.

Within this framework, the Head of State expressed her solidarity with the families of all Peruvians who have lost their lives due to crime, including singer Paul Flores from the group Armonia 10, who was murdered last weekend.

"To his family, my condolences and support in these moments of sorrow. In memory of each one of them, our government will never cease its relentless fight against hitmen and other criminals who seek to take away our peace and tranquility. We are on their trail, and we will not stop until we see them pay for their crimes," she asserted.

In this regard, the top official mentioned a 30-day state of emergency was declared in Lima Metropolitan Area and the Constitutional Province of Callao (Callao region), a measure through which the National Police maintains control of internal order, with support from the Armed Forces.

Addressing the attendees at the meeting, she reported that so far in 2025, the police have dismantled criminal gangs, arrested 73,000 people for various crimes —12,000 of whom were foreigners and 60,000 Peruvians— and seized nearly 2,400 weapons, of which almost 1,400 were firearms.

"These results encourage us to continue and stay on this path of serving our people. We are making progress despite what some may say. We are also aware that much remains to be done for security, but it is also true that in this fight, we must all unite as never before," she expressed.

Moreover, President Boluarte stated that Conasec plays a key role in strengthening actions and strategies against crime and delinquency.

Therefore, the implementation of agreements made during the fourth decentralized ordinary session held in December 2024 will be reviewed, and new agreements will be made at this meeting.

"I hereby declare the First Ordinary Session of Conasec 2025 open. Let us continue working for the security of all our compatriots. Peru needs all of us. Only through unity can we overcome the challenges we face. Only with commitment and determination will we overcome this difficult battle," she said.
