Peruvian Ambassador presents credentials to CARICOM

Ambassador Claudia Betalleluz presented her credentials accrediting her as Peru's Representative to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The credentials were handed over to the 
Secretary-General of said bloc, Dr. Carla Natalie Barnett.

During the protocolary event, the head of Peru's diplomatic mission, who is based in Trinidad and Tobago, conveyed greetings from President Dina Boluarte.

Similarly, the envoy expressed the firm commitment of Peru to continue strengthening relations with CARICOM and its Member States.

The ambassador emphasized that a key priority in Peru's foreign policy agenda is to deepen political dialogue and develop cooperation programs that directly and effectively address the demands and needs of the bloc and its members through concrete actions.

In this regard, the diplomat highlighted specific meetings held in Washington, D.C., between Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer and his counterparts from CARICOM Member States.

Ambassador Betalleluz also stressed the completion of negotiations for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism with CARICOM. This will be the first instrument signed with the organization, facilitating political coordination and enhanced cooperation.

Lastly, she signed the visitor's book at the CARICOM Secretariat headquarters and presented Secretary-General Carla Natalie Barnett with a bilingual copy of the publication "Itinerant Pucara Bull. Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands."

This ceremony was held in Georgetown, Guyana, on March 19.
