The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday affirmed that the fight against transnational organized crime is an absolute and non-negotiable priority for her administration.

Likewise, the top official reaffirmed her commitment to citizens' safety, peace, and well-being.

Mrs. Boluarte participated in the opening ceremony of the International Forum on Transnational Organized Crime at Torre Tagle Palace in Lima.

Within this framework, the Head of State called for strengthening the Andean Community, which must be a stronghold of safety, development, and cooperation to combat organized crime.

"I reaffirm the importance that the Peruvian Government places on prioritizing the fight against this scourge; our commitment is unwavering," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"We will continue working tirelessly to ensure safety, peace, and well-being," she added.

The president indicated that organized crime has a considerable social and economic impact, directly affecting our communities, eroding trust in institutions, and hampering sustainable development.

Therefore, she underlined, countries must work on strengthening judicial systems, improving transparency, and fostering good governance.

In that regard, the president mentioned that her administration has implemented robust policies and comprehensive programs that address the fight against organized crime from prevention and institutional strengthening to international cooperation.

"These measures aim not only to dismantle criminal networks operating within and beyond our borders but also to protect the population and ensure the safety of all our compatriots," she pointed out.

Among them, Mrs. Boluarte mentioned the Multisectoral Policy to Fight Organized Crime 2019-2030, the Multisectoral Citizen Security Policy towards 2030, as well as the National Policy against Human Trafficking and its Forms of Exploitation.

Similarly, she highlighted the implementation of the National Multisectoral Policy to Fight Terrorism, plus the National Integrity and Fight against Corruption Policy that handles this phenomenon as a multidimensional crime.

Furthermore, the top official affirmed that Peru prioritizes the fight against transnational organized crime at the international level, which is why it has committed to collaborating closely with other nations.

"An essential pillar is our participation in the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its additional protocols," she noted.

Moreover, the president underlined that government actions must be firm and effective considering the proposals from experts and professionals in the matter.
