President Dina Boluarte on Thursday indicated that the Government is firm and strong to defeat the remnants of terrorism in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

"Here we are, firm and strong, to defeat the remnants of terrorism that, now allied with drug trafficking, seek to create unrest in the VRAEM. We will do it as in 1997, in unity and emulating our commandos from the Chavin de Huantar Operation," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

The Head of State said Peru needs everyone, adding that she will continue fostering the progress and development deserved by all Peruvians.

"Nothing and no one will defeat us," she said.

Within this framework, the top official stressed that democracy defenders stood up to the terrorist threat, which is why the country will be eternally grateful.

"Dear National Police, dear Armed Forces, and self-defense committees, you protected us from the terrorist threat and paved the way for peace needed by the homeland to take the path toward development," she expressed.

The Head of State also recalled that terrorism had attempted to defeat democracy by using violence, but it could not.

"Along with you, with courage, intelligence, and love for our homeland, we were able to defeat them (terrorists); that is why we have said it and will continue to say it always: terrorism never again, blown-up bridges never again, car bombs killing innocent bystanders never again," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

Her government —she said— contributes to maintaining peace in the country by developing important projects in water, sanitation, infrastructure, education, health, among other sectors, to ensure the best living conditions for Peruvians.

"We will continue to build our homeland, providing development, inclusion, equality, and justice, but above all, loving our beloved homeland and putting democracy, the rule of law, and the institutional framework first and foremost, over petty interests," she pointed out.
