Peru has five Olympic medals
Three of these medals were won in shooting, with gold for Edwin Vasquez (London 1948), as well as silver for Francisco Boza (Los Angeles 1984) and Juan Giha (Barcelona 1992).
The other silver medal was obtained by the women's volleyball team in Seoul 1988.
Peschiera —a member of a family long related to sailing— was the first Peruvian to compete in this sport at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics.
He was ranked 31st at said event and 25th at Tokyo 2020.
