announced today that starting Wednesday, mobile lines with a criminal history will be deactivated, beginning with 300,000 lines, to prevent their continued use in criminal activities.
"Today, with the aim of further strengthening the fight against crime, we announce the purging of the National Registry of Mobile Terminal Equipment for Security (Renteseg), in order to prevent the use of lines and devices linked to criminal activities," she stated.
The top official affirmed that this measure constitutes "a precise blow" against criminals, hitmen, and extortionists who have instilled fear in the streets.
"In this way, and thanks to coordination at all levels of government, along with Osiptel, Reniec, Migraciones, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and telecom operators, we will deactivate 300,000 invalid mobile lines starting tomorrow and will progressively block up to 1.5 million cell phones with IMEIs linked to a highly negative usage history," she added.
Likewise, Mrs. Boluarte specified that the sale of 300,000 suspiciously-sourced, altered, and cloned cell phones will be halted.
"We are disarming crime, preventing criminals from accessing mobile lines, especially from prisons, to plan or execute crimes," she added.

Moreover, the Head of State announced that in the last 24 hours, 4,374 police officers were deployed in Lima and Callao, conducting 486 operations that resulted in the capture of 321 criminals, of whom 227 were Peruvians and 94 were foreigners.
Additionally, the top official reported that 46 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants were detained, while in support of the National Police, the Armed Forces reinforced security with 4,350 personnel and carried out 293 patrols.
"Dear compatriots, we will win this war with the support of all Peruvians who rightfully long for a better country. Let's all push in the same direction in this war against crime, and I warn those who have spread terror that they do not deserve our mercy," she concluded.
