Peru: Government supports exploration in oil blocks Z-61, Z-62, and Z-63

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) on Wednesday reaffirmed its support for hydrocarbon exploration activities in Blocks Z-61, Z-62, and Z-63, managed by the company Anadarko, with the aim of harnessing oil and natural gas resources to strengthen the country's energy security.

Deputy Hydrocarbons Minister Iris Cardenas held a working meeting with Anadarko representatives, who presented progress in prospecting, environmental studies, and social engagement activities.

During the session, it was highlighted that Chevron's involvement in the project has sparked interest among other major international energy companies considering investment in Peru.

Cardenas emphasized Peru's hydrocarbon potential and Minem's commitment to working closely with Perupetro to attract new investments and push forward strategic exploration and production projects.

In turn, the company's representatives outlined the activities planned to advance hydrocarbon prospecting within the mentioned blocks, as well as their social engagement efforts with authorities, social organizations, and civil society.

Also participating in the meeting were Minem's Hydrocarbons Department Director General Jose Agurto and Hydrocarbon Environmental Affairs Director General Efrain Soto.
