Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer commented that the participation of President Dina Boluarte in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly is on the Ministry's immediate agenda.

This event will take place in New York City, United States, from September 22 to 30.

"It will be a significant opportunity for Peru to promote its national interests in the fight against poverty, sustainable development, promotion and protection of human rights, environmental protection, and combat against transnational organized crime, in a context that will mark the future of the global agenda," he stated on Thursday.

There will also be the 40th session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Lima, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week —the latter of which will be held for the third time in Lima this November.

"The Foreign Affairs Ministry has been leading the organization of more than 200 sectoral meetings that have concluded with successful consensus building," Schialer noted.

"Now that we are entering the final stretch, we will continue working towards the adoption of four additional ministerial declarations and the most important deliverable at the Leaders' level," he added.

As is known, career diplomat
Elmer Schialer was sworn in as Minister of Foreign Affairs last Tuesday.
He replaces Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea in the post.
