The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC), authorized Delta Air Lines to open the Salt Lake City (Utah) – Lima – Salt Lake City route, with up to seven weekly flights. This decision expands direct connectivity between Peru and the United States.

Through Directoral Resolution No. 0672-2025-MTC/12, the MTC also renewed Delta Air Lines' operating permit for international air transport of passengers, cargo, and mail for four years, maintaining the Atlanta – Lima – Atlanta route, with up to seven weekly flights.

The new Salt Lake City – Lima route represents a significant boost to tourism, as it directly connects Peru with a major hub in the western United States.

It facilitates access for U.S. tourists and travelers from other countries to Peruvian destinations such as Cusco, Arequipa, and Machu Picchu.

Strategy

This directive reinforces the Peruvian State's strategy to position Jorge Chavez International Airport as a key connecting hub in South America, attracting passenger and cargo traffic from other regions.

The directoral resolution also sets out the airline's obligations, including compliance with all operational safety and environmental regulations, as well as commitments under Peruvian jurisdiction.
