Peru is consolidating its position as the planet's mining capital, with the leading global corporations in the country advancing toward modern and sustainable operations,
At the 37th Perumin Mining Convention, the high-ranking official said this event helps "bring together the main global corporations to advance toward modern, sustainable mining with a positive impact on territorial development."
"This summit is moving the needle; decisions are being made, wills are being aligned, and joint, convergent actions are being planned with the Peruvian mining sector. Objectives are being achieved, and we are growing as the world's mining capital," Montero stated on Thursday.
Likewise, the Cabinet member noted that over the week he met with international mining delegations seeking to coordinate strategies, projects, and reach shared goals.
"Peru is a mining country and must showcase the best mining in the world, integrated and coordinated with other nations," he underlined.
The minister also stressed that agreements will continue to be completed, keeping in mind the positive impacts on populations in various regions, as well as the benefits for the country in terms of macroeconomics, territorial development, social peace, rights for all, and the rule of law.
"Development and well-being for all Peruvians," Montero emphasized.
Early on Thursday, the government official held a meeting with executives from Newmont, the company operating the Yanacocha Mining Unit. There, he stressed the importance of promoting mining that ensures efficient and sustainable water use.
Later, the minister met with representatives from Las Bambas and Chinalco, underscoring the importance of responsible mining management based on environmental sustainability, coordination with different sectors of the State, and compliance with high governance standards.

"We started the day with very productive meetings. Las Bambas has shown a strong commitment to social issues," he noted, highlighting the company's willingness to promote social projects.
Lastly, the minister underscored the vision of integrated mining.
"In Peru, we are creating a single mining sector, where small, medium, and large-scale operations coexist, discussing how to consolidate the world's best mining," he pointed out.
